Louise, Gabe and Zeus

Welcome to Baghdad Animal Rescue.  This site is dedicated to Simba Al Tikriti, the cat who started it all.  RIP baby boy Simba.

Baghdad Cat Rescue was originally formed in July 2007.  It was formed off the back of the first rescue I did in 2005 when I took Simba to the UK from Tikrit in Northern Iraq.  After this I resisted the urge to take any further pets until July 2007 when Felix, Pudding, George and Mr Googles found me in Baghdad.

My work over the years has earned me the well deserved name of ‘Baghdad Cat Lady’

More recently I also started helping to rescue dogs as well so Baghdad Cat Rescue is now known as Baghdad Animal Rescue.

To date every single rescue that has been performed has been a complete success and all of the animals are happy either with new owners or with my family back home.  I do not plan to take any further animals for myself but I will continue to help others.

This operation is run in my spare time and is funded entirely by myself and donations from supporters.  I do not get funding from any of the bigger animal rescue organisations.  I do work alongside Operation Baghdad Pup/SPCA from time to time to assist them with some of the rescues they undertake, whether it be to arrange safe houses or just putting people in touch with who they need to talk to.

Each animal I have either rescued myself or assisted in rescuing has its own dedicated page on the site so you can get more insight into their stories.

Please take the time to spread the word about the site.
